Our Story
Jeni met Mick in Alaskaโwhat seems like nowโa long time ago. But little did she know at the time, that many years later they would end up in the Circle City; but that is exactly how their story goes. And the amazing experiences they shared during those long Alaskan days remain far more vivid as memories than the colors do in the fading photographs.
Along the way, they would start a family and experience the local culture and warm friendships in many different parts of this beautiful countryโwhile chasing the American dream. Mick would spend his career in renewable energyโJeni's, more importantly, would focus on raising a family. Their passionsโfamily, travel, the outdoors, and sustainabilityโwould eventually come together to form the idea for Artisans.

About Our Gallery:ย Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle
Artisans strives to find artists and products that can bring a second use to the materials around us while embracing an eco-friendly approach to design. Many of our quality handcrafted items exemplify this idealโincluding the one-of-a-kind carved ducks made from discarded Rocky Mountain cedar fence posts, the Roots & Jones pens made from old bourbon barrels, the 4ocean jewelry made from recycled plastic removed from the oceans, and the recycled guitar string bracelets. We even went so far as to incorporate this theme into the physical remodel of our gallery.

Cash Counter
Our Cash Counter
Our cash register counter isย striking, to say the least. And so many people ask about it, we figured it deserved its place on the website. The counter base is made from ordinary kitchen cabinetsโbut they are wrapped and trimmed inย reclaimed Indiana barn woodย sourced from our friends atย Hoosier Reclaimed Timberย out of Bloomington, IN. HRT has made it their mission to salvage wood from old Indiana barns and make it available to others. The various pieces of barn wood were then cobbled together by the owner's husband to give this gorgeous Indiana wood a second life here at Artisans. And not to be outdone by the beautiful barn wood, this amazing counter is topped off with a countertop calledย Alehouse Amberย (it is rumored that once the owner's husband heard the nameย Alehouse Amber, the countertop selection was a foregone conclusion). This material is made out of approximately 280 pounds of crushed, recycled beer and condiment bottles placed by hand into a cement composite. The glass is 100% recycled and the entire process is eco-friendly and LEED-certified. You have to see it to believe it, because one can actually distinguish the various pieces of the beer bottles embedded in the concrete. And if you do the math on the weight of the beer bottlesโwhich we have conveniently already done for youโit means we have a total of about 640 beer bottles entombed in our counter (that must have been one great celebration)! This extremely unusual countertop was produced by hand byย Vetrazzoย in Tate, GA (made in the U.S.A.), and took approximately 4 weeks to finish. It was installed by our dealer of choice,ย Stonesmithsout of Noblesville, IN.
